How to use softtote data recovery for Mac

Step1: Free Download and Install

There are three recovery modes for you:
1. File Recovery
Recover deleted files from your Mac hard drives, even emptied from Trash Bin, etc. and recover lost files by deep scan all the recognized files stored on each sector.

2. Lost Partition Recovery
Help to scan hard drive and other mass storage devices for lost or deleted volumes. It can also search volumes that fail to mount.

3. Photo Recovery
Easy to recover lost, deleted, formatted and inaccessible images, videos and music files from Mac based hard drives, iPod, USB drives, SD card, digital camera, mobile phone, MP3, MP4 player, and other media storage devices.
Select one of the four recovery modes according to your needs. Here, “Deep Recovery” mode is selected.

Step4: Select Drive/Volume

Select the target drive or volume where you want to recover Mac data.

Step5: Select File Types

Click “Option” button, and then select the file types to be scanned. All types are selected by default. You can click the button to select the types or cancel the selection.

Select the "For deleted files" only found the "Lost" files.

Select the "For all files" found the all files in the partition.

Step6: Preview and Recover

You can preview images in the preview window above the list column, or double click the files to preview it in a large window. And then, select the files to recover by clicking “Recover” button. The scan results are temporary in memory. If you click Back, the scan results will be lost.

Step7: Select a Path to Save Files

Select a path to save the files you want. The deleted file will be recovered with original name and directory. It’s recommended to save the recovered files on another drive! Otherwise the lost/deleted data could be overwritten! Certainly, you can create new folder to save.

The other modes: Deleted Recovery, Partition Recovery, Photo Recovery are almost identical to Deleted Recovery mode. However, you do not need to select file types after selecting drive or volume for these three modes, scanning working will begin well.
